Another view of the thinning out of the Whitingham, Vermont site Another stand that was recently thinned - January, 2008. Pile of logs being sorted for various markets. Sugar maple slicer veneer log - 10' long, 19" diameter. Sold for $4500 per thousand board foot. Veneer Day. Foreground - three cherry logs ready to be cut for veneer. Although veneer-quality logs only make up approximately 5% of a timber harvest's volume, they can generate up to 30% of the harvest's total value. 20" diameter, 9' cherry veneer log. This log sold for approximately $4000 per thousand board foot. Truck being loaded with hardwood sawlogs. A load of sugar maple and yellow birch sawlogs.
